Homeless Eviction; Where Shall They Go?

by Mo Johnson
(Montclair, VA )

You may have heard the Virginia State Police are evicting the homeless from the camp they have on public land off I-95 in Dale City. The really sad thing is the homeless are not being told or provided a place to go. This is a moral issue for our community.

Please comment below if you know of a place the homeless can go -- even a plot of land where they can set up camp. We do have transportation.

Thanks and God bless.

Del. Scott Lingamfelter
by: Mo

I read in the "express" (free washington post commuter paper) that this eviction was prompted by Del. Scott Lingamfelter who complained to VDOT that the homeless were crossing the exit ramps creating a hazard. Apparently no one has suggested a place for the homeless to go.

thanks
by: Mo

Thanks for everyone's comments here and also e-mails. It's good to hear from some of the warm-hearted people in our community. I believe, for now, the homeless all have a place to pitch their tents at least. But, thanks so much for the generous folks who offered to help make our piece of the world a little better. We'll let you know as future needs arise.
