The Prince William County Chief of Police is Charlie T. Deane. Mr. Deane began his police career as a Virginia State Trooper from 1966 - 1970. He has been a member of the Prince William County Police Department since it was created in 1970.

Deane served 12 years as a criminal investigator and rose through the ranks to Deputy Police Chief in 1985. He was appointed Police Chief in 1988.
